The Community Nursing Team within the Bennachie Health & Community Care Team cover a wide geographical area and have administrative bases at Insch, Strathdon and Rhynie. The nurses all have a specific interest in working in the community and have a range of personal specialist interests in areas such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, sexual health and the elderly.

The nurses work closely with Health Visiting, Care Managers, Home Care Supervisors, GPs and GP Practice Nurses and hospital staff. If someone has a specific health problem the nurses will set up care plans to help them achieve and maintain better health and well-being.

The Health Visiting team focus their activity on children, the family and their family groups within the community. Their caseload is mainly the under 5 year olds. The service offers advice on coping skills for parents, along with general advice, support, and access to resources around child and family health/social issues and often includes referral to other members of the multi-disciplinary care team.

The health visitors offer regular Baby Clincs, Child Vaccination Clinics, Baby Massage, First Aid for Under 5s and other parent support/training groups in the health centre.
