Patient Information Booklet
Please pick-up a copy next time you are in the Health Centre!
The Insch Medical Practice is currently being supported by the NHS Grampian Public Health department to issue a comprehensive Patient Information & Self Care Booklet to every patient who attends the surgery.
This booklet incorporates information about all the services available at the Health Centre and the adjoining Insch War Memorial Hospital and also includes a number of sections on the self-management of a number of minor illnesses and ailments at home; as well as simple travel advice. It contains sections to remind patients of how to use the NHS Minor Ailment Service, the hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit, what to keep in a ‘home medicine cabinet’, useful NHS websites and a wealth of other guidance on patient ‘self care’. There is easy-reference pages of useful contact telephone numbers for all our departments and associated agencies, including NHS 24 – all in one handy-sized resource booklet.
The Practice is very grateful to NHS Grampian’s Public Health department for their assistance in enabling the practice to make the booklet available for all our patients and their families. It is the Practice’s intention to perform a robust evaluation of the use of the booklet use amongst its patient population in the summer of 2009 and to share any data regarding the impact on GP appointments used for minor illness.
